Dr. Kelsey Lipking treats the pelvic floor conditions that women are most likely to live with quietly — bladder leakage, pelvic organ prolapse, urinary urgency, and pelvic pain. Her practice is built on the idea that none of these are a normal part of aging, and that most women get meaningful relief without surgery.
What fellowship training means
After completing residency in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Lipking completed an additional three-year fellowship in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery. Relatively few physicians treating bladder and pelvic floor conditions have completed this training. In practice, it means she has spent years focused specifically on pelvic floor conditions, and can offer the full range of treatment from pelvic floor therapy through complex reconstructive surgery.
Treatment may not mean surgery
Most women who see Dr. Lipking do not need an operation. She begins with an accurate diagnosis that comes from hearing the patient’s story and symptoms as well as an exam to ensure we are offering the proper treatment. Stress urinary incontinence, urge incontinence, and prolapse are treated very differently and are frequently confused. From there, treatment may involve pelvic floor physical therapy, a pessary, bladder retraining, or procedures such as Bulkamid urethral bulking or bladder Botox, both of which take about fifteen minutes.
When surgery is the right answer
For women with advanced prolapse or symptoms that have not responded to conservative treatment, Dr. Lipking performs the full spectrum of minimally invasive pelvic reconstructive procedures, including vaginal and laparoscopic prolapse repair, cystocele and rectocele repair, uterine-sparing procedures, and mesh augmented procedures with sacrocolpopexy. She further performs procedures to help patients achieve continence including midurethral slings and sacral neuromodulation.
Background
Dr. Lipking earned a degree in biomedical engineering from Purdue University, graduating summa cum laude, and her medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, serving as Chief Administrative Resident in her final year, followed by her fellowship at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. Dr. Lipking holds affiliations with HCA West Marion and HCA Ocala Florida hospitals as well as the Advanced Surgery Center of Ocala. She is a member of the American Urogynecologic Society and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Originally from southern Indiana, Dr. Lipking enjoys hiking, running, and traveling with her family.
